Australia beat the White Ferns in the fifth and final Twenty20 International at the Melbourne Cricket Ground tonight.

Australia won the toss and endured a difficult start before posting 129/7 with their bowling attack then restricting the White Ferns to 109/7.

New Zealand spinners Frances MacKay and Lucy Doolan removed the top four batsmen to have Austlralia 62/4 however a powerful 30 from Alyssa Healy and late 24 from Ellyse Perry ensured the home team reached a competitive total.

Doolan was the pick of the bowlers with three for 21 while MacKay claimed two for 18.

The White Ferns run chase never gain momentum with the Australian bowling line up hunting as a pack to remove the White Ferns top five for 53 runs.

Lower order batsmen Katey Perkins (18) and Mackay (22*) put up a late fight but it wasn't enough to challenge the Australian total.

Australia won the series 4-1.
