Wellington slumped to their fifth successive Plunket Shield cricket loss against Central Districts in Napier on Monday.

Central Districts won the match by seven wickets on the fourth and final morning at McLean Park.

The outcome was effectively settled on Sunday when Wellington were shot out for just 207 in their second innings, leaving Central Districts needing 226 for victory.

They went a long way to achieving that by stumps when they were 177 for two and ticked off the remainder this morning after Brad Patton progressed from his overnight 28 not out to 52.

Tim Weston was left unbeaten on 41 at the finish.

The result lifted Central Districts were 32 points, 12 behind leaders Northern Districts with two rounds remaining.
