Black Cap Brendon McCullum is in favour of an annual test cricket championship proposal.
The MCC committee recently put together an itinerary where quarter-finals would be played in November and semi-finals and finals in September.
McCullum says administrators need to bear it in mind.
The wicketkeeper has underlined that freelancing is an option for continuing over the next few years.
Some have argued that is in defiance of New Zealand Cricket's central contracts, given they bring players through the ranks only to have them become mercenaries.
But McCullum says while he understands that argument, he can't turn a blind eye to his livelihood
He also says it's the way the sport's evolving with private investors taking ownership of the game and cricketers like Andrew Flintoff - and to an extent Jacob Oram - choosing it as an option.
McCullum says the biggest aim of the Black Caps summer looks to be the prospect of a win over a more vulnerable Australia - New Zealand hasn't beaten them in a test in 17 seasons.
