There is no more spectacular place to play cricket in the world than Queenstown's John Davies Oval.

Nestled on the shores of beautiful Lake Wakatipu, the ground has the backdrop of the Remarkables, capped with a little snow during the summer.

Players have said that this ground is even more picturesque than Cape Town.

It is New Zealand's newest international cricket venue having held its first one-dayer there in 2002-03 against India.

Last summer the Pakistanis played a match there and the Sri Lankans will visit early in the New Year.

At present it is only considered a one-day venue but could well become the most amazing test venue in world cricket in the future.
