All-rounder Jimmy Neesham has been recalled to the New Zealand Twenty20 team after Ian Butler and Grant Elliott were both ruled out of tomorrow's seires opener against England in Auckland.
Butler (ankle) and Elliott (quadriceps) were both scratched today from the first T20 international at Eden Park, meaning a reprieve for Otago all-rounder Neesham who initially wasn't required for the 13-man squad.
The 22-year-old Neesham was part of the New Zealand side that claimed an historic ODI series victory in South Africa last month.
New Zealand team physiotherapist Paul Close said both Butler and Elliott would miss tomorrow night's match but their respective injuries weren't serious.
"I'm confident that both Ian and Grant will be available for the second match in Hamilton on Tuesday night."
