Jesse Ryder
DOB: 06/08/1984
Playing Role: All-rounder
Batting Style: Left-hand bat
Bowling Style: Right-arm medium
The man dubbed "the next Martin Crowe" possesses the imposing
presence of Chris Cairns, the eye-catching strokeplay of Nathan
Astle and the technical aptitude of Crowe himself. The burly
Wellingtonian has excelled with the bat at the top and the middle
of the order, and addressed his concentration issues by becoming
the first New Zealander in thirteen years to hit back to back Test
centuries in April 2009. Ryder also offers steady medium pace
and surprising agility in the field, making him a versatile asset
in all forms of the game. And while it hasn't always been an easy
road for Ryder - off the field in particular - at 27 he has a
bright future ahead of him, as long as he stays on the straight and
narrow and stays injury free.
