Just 11 players of 66 were picked up in the IPL auction on Tuesday night. The following explains who went where and for what price:
Kieran Pollard (Mumbai Indians) - The explosive West Indies all-rounder had a base price of US$200, 000 and in a four-way bidding battle between Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Kolkata his price spiralled quickly up to the limit of US$750, 000. The Mumbai Indians eventually secured the services of the Trinidadian in a silent tie-breaker for an undisclosed sum.
Shane Bond ( Kolkata Knight Riders) - The Knight Riders sat back in the initial bidding stages for the New Zealander fast bowler as Chennai and Deccan fought it out. Kolkata eventually came to the party US$640,000 and won the silent tie-breaker against Deccan to secure Bond. Only the release of Australian captain Ricky Ponting before the auction enabled Kolkata their bargaining power.
Kemar Roach (Deccan Chargers) - After losing out for the services of Bond and Wayne Parnell the Chargers bid aggressively for West Indies speedster Kemar Roach and eventually secured his services for $US720,0000.
Wayne Parnell ( Delhi Daredevils) - Delhi sat back and finally began bidding for the South African quick Wayne Parnell. The only other competition came from Deccan who pulled out at US$600,000, with Parnell eventually going to the Daredevils for $US$610,000.
Mohammad Kaif ( Kings XI Punjab) - The Indian middle-order batsman was bought for US$250,000.
Eoin Morgan (Royal Challengers Bangalore) - Bangalore were one of the only sides interested in securing a batsman and they got hard-hitting Englishman Eoin Morgan for US$220,000 with Chennai pulling out US$10,000 earlier.
Justin Kemp (Chennai Super Kings) - The hard-hitting South African middle order batsman went to the Super Kings for US$100,000.
Damien Martyn (Rajasthan Royals) - The retired Australian batsman went uncontested to the Royals for his base price of $US100, 000.
Adam Voges (Rajasthan Royals) - The Australian middle order batsman also went to the Royals for just US$50, 000.
