Heavy rain has forced the abandonment of the final limited overs
match between Australia and India in Mumbai.
A cyclone expected to hit India's Arabian Sea coast has caused
constant heavy rain since mid-Tuesday and there is no prospect of
it letting up in the next 24 hours.
While Mumbai is not directly in the path of cyclone Phylan, the
heavy rains have forced the cancellation of the fixture after a
final despairing inspection by match officials at 5pm local
time.
Neither team left their hotel before the match was called off,
though they will now journey to the ground for the end-of-series
presentation ceremony.
The Australians wrapped up the seven-match series 4-2 with a
six-wicket win in game six at Guwahati, and Shane Watson and
Mitchell Johnson have already flown home to give them extra time to
prepare for the home summer.
