Doug Bracewell
DOB: 28/09/1990
Playing Role: Lower order batsman
Batting Style: Right-hand bat
Bowling Style: Right-arm medium/fast
No one familiar with the Bracewell family dynasty would be at
all surprised with the competitive edge the young right-armer
brings to the team. But not even father Brendon or uncle Doug
could've foreseen his meteoric rise to leader of the Black Caps'
Test attack and the first Kiwi bowler to better the Australians
unstuck since Sir Richard Hadlee. Twice in his first three
Tests, Bracewell bowled his side to rare overseas Test victories;
his 6 for 40 in Hobart clinching New Zealand's first win across the
ditch in 25 years. Tall and muscular, Bracewell consistently
moves the ball in the air and off the pitch and never backs down
from a confrontation. Though his contributions with the bat
have been minimal, there is the promise of all-round ability:
Bracewell averages more than 20 in first class cricket with three
fifites to his name.
