Cricket Australia will talk with Michael Clarke on Thursday to get some indication where he is at, ahead of next week's first Test in Wellington.
With growing speculation he has broken up with model fiance Lara Bingle , Cricket Australia's Michael Brown says they don't want him to make the trip unless he is completely free of all the off field distractions.
Brown says unless he is ready to go there is no point, but their intention is still to get him back for the Test matches.
If he makes the trip, Clarke will fly out with the rest of the Test players on Sunday.
Australia play New Zealand in a two-match Test series starting in Wellington on March 19th.
Clarke headed home to Australia before Tuesday third one-day international against New Zealand in Hamilton.
