Auckland Cricket is understood to have signed England batsman Ravi Bopara for the New Zealand domestic Twenty/20 competition.
Bopara was recently left out of England's 41 contracted players for the winter performance programme.
His form and confidence fell alarmingly during the Ashes this year.
Bopara, 24, is a top order batsman who also bowls right-arm medium pace.
He starred for England earlier this year with three consecutive
centuries against the West Indies.
Auckland Cricket CEO Andrew Eade will not confirm the signing
but says an announcement is due on Monday.
