Fast bowler Shane Bond has completed the perfect comeback in Test cricket as the Black Caps recorded a 32 run victory over Pakistan in Dunedin.

Man of the match Bond picked up eight wickets in total, including the outstanding Umar Akmal in both innings.

He says he is happy to have got about 50 overs under his belt but is looking forward to a couple of days off to recover.

The experiment of a willow-heavy lineup paid off for the Black Caps after their four front line bowlers stepped up on the final afternoon when Pakistan appeared set for a comfortable victory.

Bond admits at one stage it wasn't looking good.

He says with under one hundred to get and six wickets in hand the pressure was on the bowlers but it was great how they stood up.

Akmal again starred for Pakistan, adding 75 to his first innings century.

The second test starts next Thursday in Wellington.
