A 12-year-old has camped at the crease in a school cricket tournament three-day match in Mumbai to reach 439.

Sarfaraz Khan faced 421 balls and hit 12 sixes and 56 boundaries for his school while his opponents got familiar with the boundary rope.

The same event was used as a launch pad for Sachin Tendulkar who made 329 at the event in 1988, aged 15.

But Khan's effort is overshadowed by 13 year-old Arthur Collins' effort in 1899. He made 628 not out at England's Clifton College.

It's known as the highest innings on record although there are a number of unsubstantiated backyard contenders.
