New Zealand Cricket has announced the Black Caps squad for the first two Tests against Pakistan, with the first Test starting in Dunedin on Tuesday November 24.

Test seamers Iain O'Brien and Chris Martin slot back into the side, alongside recalled bowlers Daryl Tuffey and Shane Bond.

Daryl Tuffey makes his comeback after playing his last Test in 2004.

Selector Mark Greabatch said Tuffey had a good record at Test level and had seen a positive return to first class cricket.

"Significantly, of the 66 Test wickets he's taken, 24 have been against Pakistan - it's a team he's done very well against."

Shane Bond also returns to the Test arena, after a two-year absence. "Shane has shown a lot of energy in the UAE and in domestic cricket, and has bowled a good number of overs. It will be exciting to have him back," said Greatbatch.

The batting line-up sees both Grant Elliott and Peter Fulton return to the Test side after last playing against Australia a year ago. Daniel Flynn and Tim McIntosh return as Test regulars.

"Grant Elliott's inclusion is based on his excellent form in the short version of the game - we're keen to give him an opportunity to perform in Tests," said Greatbatch.

"Peter Fulton makes his comeback based on excellent performances on winter tours with the Emerging Players and New Zealand A teams - as well as an outstanding start to the domestic Plunket Shield competition."

Greatbatch said it was likely the playing 11 would be based around six batsmen and four bowlers, but the final line up would be decided closer to the Test.

The squad of 13 is:

Daniel Vettori (Captain)
Shane Bond
Grant Elliott
Daniel Flynn
Peter Fulton
Martin Guptill
Chris Martin
Brendon McCullum
Tim McIntosh
Iain O'Brien
Jeetan Patel
Ross Taylor
Daryl Tuffey

Tuffey got the nod ahead of Tim Southee after both played against Pakistan for an Invitation 11 in a three-day match that ended in a draw in Queenstown on Friday.

Where is Lou Vincent? He has proven in his short time back in this country that he is among the most devastating batsman and energetic fielders we have. I get the feeling that the NZC selectors (Vettori included) still hold a vendetta against him!

'Injecting new blood' where is the new blood? We have got dynamic youngsters like Kane Williamson and Corey Anderson who are young that you should be injecting into the team (especially against someone like bangladesh) not guys at the age of 29 and 31!!! with limited time left in cricket... and vincent I think it is smart that he's not just thrown into it... maybe for the aussie series though if he continues his form? bit of experience... also styris? Top of MVP atm!!!
