Sports Hottie of the Week: Tim Southee (Source: Photosport)

This week's sports hottie is a young man who will be all over the telly for the next five days and hopefully will replicate his stunning early form to take some Pakistan wickets for the Black Caps.

Tim Southee, who turned 21 on Friday, burst on to the Test scene in March last year against England by taking a five wicket bag before smashing 77 (off just 40 balls) in the second innings, including nine sixes.

Picked as the fourth seamer on the same ground as THAT debut, the bushy-eyebrowed one is spear-heading the Black Caps' attack with his right arm fast (though admittedly sometimes a bit wayward) bowling and also should bolster the shaky batting line-up.

While he has not always maintained a constant presence in the Black Caps, he has worked his way into the hearts of many Kiwi cricket fans with his aggressive style and youthful charm.

The Whangarei-born player describes himself as "laidback, energetic and kind" and says he likes to get down on his sheep and beef farm and work the land.

Southee had some solid performances in Australia last summer but his best bowling figures remain that 2008 Test performance.

It may be a tough comeback for the Kings College kid but as one colleague noted - "if he can't be a hero, at least he's still a hottie."

He has his own fan group on Bebo and features in an amusing YouTube clip called How to fix the New Zealand cricket team.
