Ross Taylor
DOB: 08/03/1984
Playing Role: Batsman
Batting Style: Right-hand bat
Bowling Style: Right-arm offbreak

Earmarked as one of the next big things when he made his one-day debut for New Zealand in 2006, the belligerent Ross Taylor has all but delivered on his incredible promise. It took only three ODIs before Taylor announced his destructive power to world cricket, blasting 128 not out against the Sri Lankans in Napier. Since then he has amassed a respectable record - averaging over 40 in Test cricket and 35 in one-day cricket - in all forms of the game and in 2011 took over the captaincy of the Black Caps from Daniel Vettori. Taylor has become a fan favourite thanks to his big hitting power. He favours scoring on the leg-side, particularly looking to slog sweep the spinners over mid-wicket. In 2010 he hit the fastest Test century by a New Zealander in just 81 balls against Australia in Hamilton. That is one of six of his Test hundreds to date but with 15 Test 50s he is quickly forging a reputation of a player who throws his wicket away when he is seemingly in.
