New Zealand's cricket selectors have met in Wellington on Friday to nut out a Test squad for the series against Australia after the Black Caps dismal performance all but handed the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy to their rivals on Thursday.

The decision has not been made easy for selectors with injuries, and current form plaguing the side.

One player who is expected to be recalled to the Test squad to bat at three is Peter Ingram

But, the decision on Ingram, who is back playing domestic cricket for Central Districts after being dumped for the final two one dayers, hasn't gone down well with some.

One of those is former Black Caps coach Warren Lees, who can't understand the logic behind the move.

Lees said there is a danger Ingram's confidence at the top level will be destroyed by Australia's new ball attack.

He also believes the selectors risk ruining the 31-year-old's career if he is picked for the series.
