Kane Williamson
DOB: 08/08/1990
Playing Role: All-Rounder
Batting Style: Right-hand bat
Bowling Style: Right-arm offbreak
Billed as the next big thing in New Zealand cricket, Williamson
came of age in New Zealand's 2009 domestic summer, scoring 614 runs
(including back to back scores of 170 and 192) as well as snaring
13 wickets. A dashing right-hand batsman, he drew immediate
comparisons to Martin Crowe and his unorthodox spin bowling is a
further string to his bow. Such was the Tauranga youngster's
meteoric rise that there were calls to throw him straight into the
international side during Australia's late-summer tour in 2010;
perhaps wisely, they were resisted. Williamson did eventually get
his first taste of international cricket later that year and
few would dispute that a long and fruitful international
career is his for the taking; likely in the troublesome no.3
spot.
