Brendon McCullum
DOB: 27/10/1981
Playing Role: Top order batsman/wicketkeeper
Batting Style: Right-hand bat

Few cricketers in this country has sparked such debate as Otago's mercurial keeper batsman. Where in the order should he bat? How should he bat? Should he even wear the keeping gloves? Everyone has a different view on McCullum, but all agree that in full flight he is one of the most dominant, destructive and breathtaking shot-makers in the modern game. Capable of flaying almost any length ball to any part of the ground, the high risk game he plays inevitably leads to questions over his consistency and whether he bats with the team's best interests in mind.. It seems certain that McCullum will finish his career alongside Ian Smith as the greatest keeper the country has produced, despite him giving up the keeping gloves in Test cricket due to a back problem and so he can bat at the top of the order. The real question will be whether or not he ever truly fulfills his immense potential.
