Vettori comes in to collect Hopes, the final danger man in the Australian squad.

9:14pm: AUS 175/7 after 43 overs - J. Hopes 32*, N. Hauritz 4* Extras 4

There is still life in the Australian batting line up, but they almost throw that away. Hopes and Hauritz choose to run and some superb fielding gives B. McCullum a great chance at a run out but misses by an agonisingly small margin with his throw.

9:11pm: AUS 169/7 after 42 overs - J. Hopes 29*, N. Hauritz 1* Extras 4

Hopes finds a gap out on the ropes at square leg and pops it through for four.

9:07pm: AUS 160/7 after 41 overs - J. Hopes 22*, N. Hauritz 1* Extras 4

Southee gets a bit wild early, but then takes the scalp of the big hitting Johnson to bring in Nathan Hauritz.

Johnson goes big but holes out to Franklin at long off.

9:01pm: AUS 156/6 after 40 overs - J. Hopes 20*, M. Johnson 5* Extras 3

Vettori backs himself to take on the Aussie batsmen and Johnson rips one through mid-wicket. Boom.

8:57pm: AUS 150/6 after 39 overs - J. Hopes 19*, M. Johnson 1* Extras 3

Ooooh, it's a game of tactics as the minute Vettori calls on McCullum to bowl Australia call for the power play. Vettori then switches bowlers and brings in Southee, which turns out to be a brilliant move as he cleans up Hussey's off-stump.

8:54pm - WICKET M. Hussey b Southee 46

Southee cleans up Hussey and the danger man is gone-ski.

8:49pm: AUS 144/5 after 38 overs - J. Hopes 15*, M. Hussey 45* Extras 3

8:22pm: AUS 124/5 after 32 overs - J. Hopes 9*, M. Hussey 31* Extras 3

Hussey bashes Scott Styris' first ball through cover. Second ball through point for another four runs. It's what is called a batting master class. Hopes even picks up a few from the over, not economical in the slightest.

8:18pm: AUS 113/5 after 31 overs - J. Hopes 7*, M. Hussey 22* Extras 3

McCullum does well once again with the ball. Hussey is definitely the key wicket.

8:15pm: AUS 109/5 after 30 overs - J. Hopes 4*, M. Hussey 21* Extras 3

Hussey continues to turn over the strike and he finishes the over by clobbering a four through cover.

McCullum remains a very cheap bowler as he continues to keep the runs down.

Spinners are being bowled in tandem as Vettori looks to put the clamps on.

McCullum makes a big break through in the Aussie ranks as he removes Watson.

It's a big one. Watson didn't look comfortable against the slower bowlers. He clips it straight to Taylor at square leg.

8:04pm: AUS 96/4 after 26 overs - S. Watson 53*, M. Hussey 13* Extras 2

Watson is still being troubled by Vettori's changes in pace and length and doesn't look comfortable facing the NZ captain.

8:00pm: AUS 93/4 after 25 overs - S. Watson 50*, M. Hussey 13* Extras 2

Hussey hits an ugly, ugly shot that somehow runs through covers for four. The next one though he cuts beautifully through fine leg. And with that Hussey brings up his 1000th ODI run against NZ.

7:54pm: AUS 85/4 after 24 overs - S. Watson 50*, M. Hussey 5* Extras 2

A very strong over from Southee who is being very economical compared to usual.

Voges might count himself a little unfortunate as he is caught behind from what must have been the sliightest edge possible.

7:19pm: AUS 49/3 after 14 overs - S. Watson 25*, A. Voges 0* Extras 1

Two wickets from the over for Bond who took out Ponting with a very lucky call. Double wicket maiden.

Watson and Haddin keep it ticking along with some well taken singles. Not even Bond seems to be flustering them.

6:31pm: AUS 18/0 after 4 overs - B. Haddin 11*, S. Watson 7* Extras 0

Tuffey is definitely in fine stead, not giving the Aussies an inch. Still, Haddin and Watson look as steady as is humanly possible. Haddin sensed a moment of weakness and sends Tuffey for four off the last ball.

6:27pm: AUS 14/0 after 3 overs - B. Haddin 7*, S. Watson 7* Extras 0
