Producer's Diary - July/August
I'm a bit late writing this blog because we've finished most of
our work on the current series, so I took the chance to sneak away
for a family holiday in Central Otago.
Our last episode will go to air on the evening of August 15,
although the series is also being repeated on Saturday mornings at
8am on TV ONE.
And we're now in the early planning stages for a 2010 series. We're
very pleased that our sponsor, the National Bank, is keen to
continue its involvement - and our clothing supplier, Untouched
World, also wants to keep supporting us.
We've now submitted a proposal asking New Zealand On Air to
contribute funds as well. We'll get their response in the same week
that the last episode of the current series goes to air - and if
funding is available, we hope to be back on air with a new series
by February or March next year.
If it's all go, we'll have a busy time in the intervening months.
We've now got close to 200 possible story ideas to sift through,
and lots more will no doubt come to light over the next couple of
months. We'll talk to people by phone, then in the later part of
August and September we'll start visiting the people and locations
that look as though they'll give us the best mix of stories.
If all goes well, we'll start filming towards the end of September,
which means we'll have plenty of good material available for next
season.
In the meantime, keep watching the show - we've still got some
great yarns to come - and join us in crossing your fingers that New
Zealand On Air will continue the financial support that will allow
our plans to come to fruit.
