Courteney Cox on playing Jules
Friends star Courteney Cox returns in 2 Comedy's hit show Cougar Town as Jules, a recently divorced single mother who is trying to get back into the world of dating.
At 45 years old, she has been married to actor David Arquette who is seven years younger than her, and has a daughter of five, Coco. Cox is proud to identify herself as a 'cougar' in real life, which is an advantage in playing the role.
Cox stays in great shape, she claims, through, "Lots of sleep. I also try to eat healthily and exercise when I get a chance. I play tennis and swim and I walk." When challenged as how to how she looks so amazing, Cox says, "I was lit really well. People don't look the way they do on TV in real life."
In series 2, she's enjoying the focus on the
ever-developing relationship between mother and her on-screen son,
Travis (Dan Byrd). "Last season we kind of ended the year with the
relationship, kind of working - it was Grayson (Josh Hopkins) and
Jules getting together," says Cox.
"This year, my son here - we're going to be dealing with him &
and we're going to have a thing where he kind of takes on his
father's personality a little bit and drops down in the realm of
success for a bit, and I have to turn my back on him," she
continues.
There's also lots of thrills and spills, and growing up, ahead
for Jules and Grayson as their relationship goes full steam
ahead.
"As long as it's working, we're going to stay together," says Cox.
"And as long as they can come up with great stories that keep it
interesting, which I think they have so far - I really love this
relationship, but it is not your typical will she/won't she. So I
think we're just going to keep rocking along and see what
goes."
