Storylines: Jack and Vera have had a long but tempestuous marriage, often complicated by their troublesome son, Terry.
Vera confessed that Terry might not be Jack's child, but the result of an affair. However Jack already knew of the affair and believed Terry to be his son
They took care of grandson Tommy following the death of his mother Lisa, while Terry was in prison. However Terry did a deal with Lisa's parents the Hortons and "sold" Tommy to them, leaving Vera devastated.
Later Terry was to abscond with money promised to him for donating a kidney to son Paul. Vera donated her kidney instead and nearly died from complications.
Vera once tricked pigeon-loving Jack into believing that he had been served pigeon pie. And when he joined a dating scheme he was rumbled by Vera, who arranged to meet him at the Rovers and surprised him (wearing a wig). After Jack agreed to sell his body (after death) to an artist to raise money for Vera's Christmas present, Vera intervened and the pair ended up being painted nude.
After meeting her father for the first time Vera became convinced that she was descended from royalty. She also experimented with home improvement, by insisting on installing stone-cladding on their house.
After Jack's brother left him ý30,000 in his will Jack and Vera eventually took on the role of Rovers landlords in 1995 (UK).
Because Jack had lied about his age when he met Vera it was revealed that they were not legally married. They eventually officially tied the knot in Vegas. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 2007 (UK).
Jack and Vera shared their house with 'adopted' son Tyrone and Molly, and grandson Paul.
Vera planned to move to Blackpool, but died in her sleep shortly before they were due to leave.
