Love:  Previously engaged to Maria Sutherland, now living with Molly Compton

Storylines: Son of Jackie Dobbs, Deirdre's former prison cell mate, Tyrone was taken in by Jack and Vera, to whom he has become like a son.

Illiterate Tyrone learned to read with help from Ken Barlow and gained skills at a mechanic, working for Kevin Webster.

He adopted a stray greyhound, which lead him to meet Maria Sutherland at the local kennels. Fiz Brown, who dated Maria's brother Kirk, tried to come between the two. They were engaged, but Tyrone broke it off, believing that they were just too different.

Tyrone became jealous of the Duckworth's grandson Paul Clayton when he came to stay. When money went missing Tyrone suspected Paul, but in his attempts to prove it inculpated himself.

Tyrone's girlfriend Molly Compton moved in with him at the Duckworth's and helped to look after them after Vera's fall. Tyrone, wishing to keep an eye on Paul, stalled her plans to find a place of their own.

They planned to byuy the Duckworth's house after they moved to Blackpool. When Vera died the sale went ahead, but they insisted that Jack remain with them. Tyrone relented and also allowed Paul to remain as a lodger.
