Paula Lane plays Kylie Platt
Paula Lane (born 17 April 1986) plays Kylie Platt on Coronation Street.
Paula was born in West Yorkshire. She attended the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, graduating in 2008 with a 1st Class Honours Degree in Acting.
Paula’s first professional television role was in the long-running ITV drama Heartbeat, playing the guest role of Wendy Kelshaw for one episode in 2009. She then went on to appear in Heartbeat’s sister show The Royal.
In 2010, she was cast as Becky McDonald’s half-sister Kylie. In her first six months on the show, Paula had large periods of time off-screen to facilitate her storylines of selling her son to her half-sister and taking off with the money they’d given her.
In 2011, she became a permanent fixture, with her character moving onto Coronation Street.
The character of Kylie made an immediate impression with viewers and critics alike and Paula Lane was nominated for the Most Popular Newcomer award at the 2011 National Television Awards. She was also nominated for the same award at the All About Soap Awards, British Soap Awards, Inside Soap Awards and TV Times Awards.
First appearance on Coronation Street in the UK:
26 August 2010: When Becky and Steve are told that their plans to adopt may be scuppered thanks to a bad reference, Becky discovers it was Kylie who was responsible. She tracks Kylie down to confront her about this.
