Paul Clayton

Played by: Tom Hudson (since 2007 UK)

First Appeared: 2000-01, reappeared 2007 (UK)

Date of Birth: 7 November 1986

Occupation: Chef

Relations:  Son of Andrea Clayton and Terry Duckworth, grandson of Jack and Vera Duckworth. Half-brother of Tommy Duckworth and Brad Armstrong

Love:  Declared his feelings for Leanne Battersby

Storylines:  As a child Paul received a kidney transplant. Terry was supposed to be the donor, but he absconded and Vera donated instead, becoming seriously ill as a result.

Paul returned to Coronation Street as an adult, taking the job of chef at Leanne Battersby's Italian restaurant, and moving into the Duckworth's.

Paul's arrival upset the Duckworth's "adopted" son Tyrone, who suspected Paul of stealing from Jack. Paul secretly used the Duckworth's house a collateral for a loan. He also cashed a betting slip of Jack's and pocketed the money.

In spite of reservations Tyrone agreed to let Paul stay as a lodger when they bought the Duckworth's house after Vera died.

Paul has also caused concern for employer Leanne, with his debts following him to work. Thugs seeking payment stole from the restaurant, and bookie Dan Mason claimed free meals in lieu of payment.

Leanne convinced Paul to set fire to the restaurant for the insurance money. After he discovered that Leanne did not love him Paul confessed to the police, but fled Weatherfield before his trial.
