Patti Clare plays Mary Taylor
Patti Clare plays competition enthusiast Mary Taylor on Coronation Street.
Born in Manchester, Patti has been acting professionally for over 15 years. She focused on theatre work for much of her early career, with an extensive list of stage credits from 1998 – 2009.
Patti decided to concentrate on television roles and more recently and appeared in guest roles for a number of successful British shows, including rival soap Doctors and Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood, prior to landing the role of Mary Taylor.
The character of Mary was initially introduced as a guest character in 2008. After a second guest appearance in 2009, Mary Taylor was bought back to the Cobbles full-time in 2010.
The character of Mary Taylor has proved popular with viewers and critics alike, with Patti winning a number of awards for her portrayal of Mary, including 'Best Comedy Performance' at the 2011 British Soap Awards.
