Oliver Mellor plays Dr Matt Carter
Oliver Mellor (born 30 January 1981) plays Dr Matt Carter on Coronation Street.
Oliver was born in Windsor in Berkshire and studied acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in summer 2005.
Before he became an actor, Oliver was a personal trainer and a county rugby player.
Whilst studying at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, he appeared in a number of stage productions.
Like many of his Corrie co-stars, Coronation Street is not the only soap he’s appeared in. What’s pretty interesting is that within four years, Oliver had made appearances on most of the major British soap operas – Hollyoaks (in the spin-off series Hollyoaks: In The City, in 2006), EastEnders (2007), Doctors (2009) and Coronation Street (from 2010, in the role of Dr Matt Carter).
In addition to these roles, Oliver has also appeared in Doctor Who, in the 2006 episode Army Of Ghosts.
In 2011 he and co-star Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan) took part in a charity challenge, delivering lifesaving medical support in the mountainous and remote villages of Lesotho.
First appearance on Coronation Street in the UK:
20 August 2010: Patient Natasha Blakeman visits Dr Carter to discuss the stomach pains she’s been having since her secret abortion.
