Storylines: Came to the Rovers when she auditioned to join Vernon's band, but Vernon's lecherous behaviour toward her caused trouble with landlady Liz.

She began dating Sonny Dhillon, who lavished her with gifts, much to the chagrin of suitor Steve McDonald. However Steve uncovered Sonny's bi-sexual side when he saw him kissing former flame Sean Tully.

Liam confessed to her that it was Paul that had been driving during the crash which killed her partner Dean. To avoid prosecution, the brothers had moved Dean into the driver's seat before the police arrived.

Paul was killed in a car accident as he tried to take revenge on Leanne Battersby.

Reeling from the revelations regarding Dean's death, Michelle confided in Steve, and the two became closer. While she initially rejected Steve's advances, eventually Steve got his girl.

Michelle and Ryan moved into the Rovers with Steve and Amy. But with Vernon and Liz there as well, something's got to give.

Michelle discovered that Ryan was swapped at birth and that Alex was her real son. Although initially promising Ryan that she wouldn't see Alex, Michelle soon became curious about her other son. The presence of Alex created tensions between her and Ryan and put pressure on her relationship with Steve.

When Michelle suspected Steve of having an affair Lloyd lied and told her that Steve was planning to propose.  She turned him down.
