Jerry Morton

Played by: Michael Stark

First Appeared: 2007 (UK)

Date of Birth: 21 November 1957

Occupation: Runs Jerry's Takeaways

Relations:  Father of Jodie, Darryl, Mel and Kayleigh Morton, Step-father to Finlay Bryant. Son of Wilf Morton

Love: Divorced from Teresa Bryant. Dated Eileen Grimshaw

Storylines:  Jerry came to the street when he opened up a kebab shop, starting a rivalry with Cilla who worked at Wong's Chips.

Jerry was accompanied by his daughter Jodie, and twins Darryl and Mel. Kayleigh and her half-brother Finlay joined them when their mother went on holiday and left them to look after themselves.

The crowded living arrangements lead to Jerry installing a shed in the backyard for Darryl, much to the annoyance of neighbours Claire Peacock and Gail Platt, who often complained about the noise. However when the Morton's threw a party Gail and Claire decided to join them, and got rather drunk, while Vernon got stoned with Darryl.

Jerry relied heavily on oldest daughters Jodie and Mel to help with the shop and to look after the other children, often taking them for granted. This caused Jodie to leave, and Jerry has since tried hard to give Mel her own life.

Jerry suffered a heart attack after chasing some hoodlums from Roy's Cafe. This brought his ex-wife Teresa back into his life, who came to help look after the shop and the kids and was then reluctant to leave. Jerry doesn't always trust Teresa, but has grown to appreciate her help and tries to help her out.
