Occupation: Retired, former Rovers landlord. Various jobs including cellar man, window cleaner and lorry driver.
Relations: Widow of Vera Duckworth, father of Terry. Grandfather of Paul Clayton, Tommy Duckworth and Brad Armstrong. Brother of Clifford (deceased)
Love: Married to Vera. Attempts at womanising, including a brief affair with Bet Lynch
Storylines: Jack and Vera have had a long but tempestuous marriage, often complicated by their troublesome son, Terry.
They took care of grandson Tommy following the death of his mother Lisa, while Terry was in prison. However Terry did a deal with Lisa's parents the Hortons and "sold" Tommy to them.
An enthusiastic pigeon keeper, Jack was once tricked by Vera into believing he had been served pigeon pie. He also enjoys a betting on the horses, and was a keen darts player.
When Jack joined a dating scheme he was rumbled by Vera, who arranged to meet him at the Rovers and surprised him (wearing a wig).
While working as a cellarman Jack was responsible for starting the Rovers fire after installing a faulty fuse. He and Vera eventually took on the role of Rovers landlords in 1995 (UK), after inheriting ý30,000 from his brother Cliff.
When Jack agreed to sell his body (after death) to an artist to raise money for Vera's Christmas present, Vera intervened and the pair ended up being painted nude.
Because Jack had lied about his age when he met Vera it was revealed that they were not legally married. They eventually officially tied the knot in Vegas. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 2007 (UK).
Jack had a triple bi-pass heart surgery.
Jack and Vera shared their house with "adopted" son Tyrone and Molly, and grandson Paul. Jack discovered that Paul had used the deeds to the house as collateral for a debt, but kept this from Vera. he and Vera planned to move to Blackpool, but Vera died bfore they could do so. Jack sold the house to Molly and Tyrone, but continues to live there.
