Farewell Our Vera
After 30 years on the Street, Vera is gone.
Vera and Jack were about to leave Weatherfield for life in Blackpool, a place close to Vera's heart.
Although she said the seaside made her feel 10 years younger, Vera was reluctant to give up a life time of memories and possessions at no. 9.
Instead she planned to leave the house and much of its contents in the care of Tyrone and Molly.
Sadly, though Vera never made it to Blackpool.
She died quietly in her sleep where she was found by Jack coming home from the Rovers.
Although the pair often argued, they were certainly meant for each other, and Jack will be lost without his V.
Take a look back on some memorable moments with the irrepressible Mrs Duckworth:
* Telling Jack that Terry may not be his child
* Serving up a "pigeon" pie to Jack
* Signing up to a dating agency and being paired up with Jack -
and then surprising him on their date disguised in a wig
* Heckling Mike Baldwin and gossiping with Ivy while working in
the factory
* Taking care of grandson Tommy until Terry "sold" him to his
other grandparents
* Donating a kidney to grandson Paul, after Terry ran off with
the money
* Adding a touch of class to no. 9 with stone cladding
* Meeting her father and thinking she descended from
royalty
* Becoming landlady of the Rovers
* Being painted nude with Jack after he sold his remains to an
artist
* Celebrating 50 years of marriage to Jack at the Rovers
Vera, born Veronica Burton, was 70 years old. She is survived by her husband Jack, son Terry and grandsons Paul, Tommy and Brad.
