Carla Connor

Carla on Coronation Street

Played by: Alison King

First Appeared: 2006 (UK)

Date of Birth: 3 January 1975

Occupation: Co-owner Underworld

Relations:  Widow of Paul Connor, Sister-in-law of Liam and Michelle Connor, aunt to Ryan.

Love:  Wife of Tony Gordon. Unresolved feelings for Liam Connor.

Storylines: The wife of Paul Connor, who bought Underworld from the Baldwins, Carla had ambitions of creating her own business empire with a line of children's clothing. Her vision however did not always fit with Paul and Liam's plan for the business.

She illegally set up a nightshift at the factory, and was forced to cover up over the death of Polish immigrant worker Kashia.

Carla planned to set up a restaurant with Leanne Battersby, but this ended when she discovered that Leanne was an escort, and had been hired by her husband Paul.

Carla threw Paul out and he was killed when he crashed his car, with Leanne trapped in the boot.

Having inherited Paul's share in Underworld, Carla and Liam struggled to work together. Their relationship was further complicated when during an argument, Liam kissed Carla.

Her attraction to Liam brought her into conflict with Maria Sutherland, and threatened to stop Maria and Liam's wedding. In spite of her attraction to Liam, Carla is married to Tony Gordon.

Things took a turn for the worst, however, when the man she married (Tony) murdered the man she really loved (Liam). Tony argued he was driven to it by unconditional love, insisting she was responsible as him for Liam's death.

Appalled, Carla told Tony he was wrong, she'd decided to stay with him on the stag night and he killed Liam for nothing.

Carla was sickened by Tony and what he did, and left him.
