Beverley Callard plays Liz McDonald on Coronation Street

Beverley Callard (born March 28, 1957 in Morley, Leeds) plays Liz McDonald on Coronation Street.

Beverley made her television debut in Emmerdale Farm as Angie Richards in 1983.

The following year Beverley played Gail and Brian Tilsley's friend June Dewhurst in Coronation Street. Other roles followed, including parts in Hells Bells, Will You Love Me Tomorrow and The Practice.

In 1989, Beverley returned to Coronation Street as Liz McDonald, a much more significant role than her first stint on the show!

Beverley's character of Liz McDonald has since had to endure being a battered wife, a kidnap victim, harassed mother and unfaithful wife.

Beverley married her first husband, journalist Paul Atkinson at Dewsbury Register Office, Leeds, on 19 January 1974. Their daughter Rebecca Callard was born in 1976 but the couple later divorced.

Beverley then married teacher David Sowden in 1980, and after this marriage ended she lived with warehouse worker Steven Callard. Beverley fell pregnant in 1989 and the couple married. Their son, Joshua was born in 1990.

Beverley now lives with her partner, Jon McEwan, in Eccles, Salford. They also own a pub in the town, The White Horse and restaurant M30.

First appearance on Coronation Street in the UK:
27 October 1989: Liz accompanied husband Jim on a viewing of number 11, in the hope of buying it from Alf and Audrey Roberts.
