Alison King plays Carla Connor

Alison King (born 3 March 1973) plays Carla Connor on Coronation Street.

Alison was raised as a Christadelphian and attended the Christadelphian Church at Westleigh, Leicester, where she was baptised as a teenager.

At the age of 22, Alison enrolled at the North Cheshire Community Theatre. During her time there she got her first television role, playing Helen, a hair salon crimper, in two episodes of Brookside.

Before the conclusion of her three-year diploma, she was cast in the major role of Lynda Block on the show Dream Team, a role she held for three years before her character was sent to prison. She reprised the role a few years later.

During her break from working on Dream Team, she was an extra in the American feature film Shanghai Knights - appearing in a scene alongside Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson - and appeared on the BBC comedy-drama Help and the film Final Contract: Death on Delivery.

Alison also made a guest appearance in the final episode of Mile High, and was in two independent films, Save Angel Hope and Back in Business.

Alison was then cast as Carla on Coronation Street in 2006.

First appearance on Coronation Street in the UK:
1 December 2006: Carla surprised her then-husband Paul Connor by gate-crashing the Underworld Christmas party.
