North Island, rain or showers in most places, but mainly dry in Gisborne and Hawkes Bay. South Island, rain with some heavy falls in the west, scattered rain in the south, mainly dry elsewhere but the odd shower south of Banks Peninsula.
Thursday
North Island, showers and increasing fine spells for most places. South Island, showers in the west and far south, mainly fine elsewhere.
Friday
North Island, occasional showers in the west, mainly fine elsewhere. South Island, showers in the west and far south, mainly dry fine.
Chatham Islands
Rain developing on Tuesday. Further rain on Wednesday and Thursday. Northerly winds rising to gale on Wednesday, turning lighter westerly on Thursday.
