Green MP Keith Locke is urging Prime Minister Helen Clark to tackle several sensitive issues with visiting Australian counterpart John Howard.
He arrives in New Zealand on Thursday afternoon where he will attend a governmental CEO conference and officially open a revamped Australian High Commission building in Thorndon.
He will hold talks with Clark at parliament on Friday as well as National Party leader John Key.
Locke says Clark should not hold back on urging Howard to immediately withdraw Australian troops from Iraq.
He says she should also be willing to back the call of her Australian Labour counterpart Kevin Rudd for David Hicks to be brought back from Guantanamo Bay.
Locke says that climate change and Australia's refusal to ratify the Kyoto Protocol should also be raised.
