Airline passengers across Australia face travel chaos today because of strike action, and transtasman flights are also affected with a dozen cancellations.
Air traffic controllers in Brisbane and Sydney walked off the job over pay claims and struck for five hours from midday New Zealand time.
Air New Zealand cancelled twelve flights between New Zealand centres and Sydney and Melbourne - and the only flights connecting to Brisbane have been brought forward or delayed.
The airline will put on four extra flights late this afternoon to accomodate affected passengers.
A spokesperson for Air New Zealand Mark Champion says passengers on other transtasman flights can expect delays of up to three hours.
