The All Black selectors on Wednesday made 10 changes to the starting line-up that demolished England by a record margin for their next test on their European Tour against France at the weekend.
Key features of the side is the return of lock James Ryan and midfielder Conrad Smith who are both playing their first tests after lengthy injury lay-offs.
Smith broke his leg earlier this year in a Super 14 match, while Ryan has battled back from a serious shoulder injury.
Meanwhile Anton Oliver will come in at hooker for his 50th test.
Such widespread changes were always anticipated from the selectors, with All Blacks coach Graham Henry emphasising the need to keep his players fresh.
"We felt it was important to have fresh legs for this match against the strongest team in the Northern Hemisphere," said All Blacks coach Graham Henry.
"We are playing in Lyon where they have had a lot of success and we are playing on Armistice Day which usually brings out the best in the French side. It is a significant challenge for our team."
The All Blacks reserves will be named later in the week, pending a decision on the fitness of prop Neemia Tialata. First five-eighth Nick Evans was not considered for selection due to injury.
All Blacks: 15. Leon McDonald, 14. Joe Rokocoko, 13. Conrad Smith, 12. Luke McAlister, 11. Sitiveni Sivivatu, 10. Dan Carter, 9. Piri Weepu, 8. Rodney So'oialo, 7. Richie McCaw (captain), 6. Jerry Collins, 5. Ali Williams, 4. James Ryan, 3. Carl Hayman, 2. Anton Oliver, 1. Tony Woodcock
