The Mental Health Foundation is the lead organisation in New
Zealand working to improve the mental health and wellbeing of all
people and communities in Aotearoa/New Zealand.
Our approach to mental health promotion sees Foundation staff
working with a wide range of agencies across health and related
sectors to provide information and resources, training and
education programmes and network development.
The Foundation is involved in advocacy and policy-making for
improving mental health services and reducing stigma and
discrimination against people who experience mental illness.
In May of 2005 the Mental Health Foundation launched a national
campaign, Out of the Blue/Kia Marama, to raise awareness and
understanding of depression; increase knowledge of what to do; and
encourage those affected to take action by seeking information and
help.
