What a Satellite Coordinator Team Leader does -
The Team Leader heads a team of six multilingual Satellite
Coordinators. They deal with customers in NZ and around the world
24 hours a day, seven days a week on a shift basis. Their roles
involve arranging for urgent news material to be delivered via our
satellite network and assist with the worldwide distribution of
coverage of major events.
Why I like being a Satellite Coordinator Team Leader -
"A lot of what we do depends on what happens in the world, with
news agencies wanting to book urgent feeds at very little notice,
which means there is a lot of variety in our daily jobs. We also
take turns at looking after the onsite coordination of big events
such as the Winter Olympics, Wimbledon, Soccer World Cup and the
Australian Open." Inge Wisselink, Satellite Coordinator Team
Leader.
What qualifications do I need to become a Satellite Coordinator
Team Leader?
Language skills combined with experience in either TV production or
operations is preferred. Having been in a customer
service/coordination role involving time based use of resources,
quick response time and follow up are important qualities to
possess rather than a specific qualification.
