What an Online Editor does -
An online editor creates programmes and sequences using an Edit
Decision List (EDL) or compilation script and generates and
implements graphical concepts where necessary. Programmes should be
completed to each production's creative and technical specification
within the allocated time.
Why I like being an Online Editor -
"As with many other jobs in the television production industry, no
two days are the same. You are working with a wide range of
creative tools in different edit suites with different production
teams every day and of course the content is varied and (usually)
interesting." Hamish Hill, Online Editors Team Leader.
What qualifications do I need to become an Online Editor?
To start in an editing role experience in videotape operations is
essential and so is having a formal qualification specialising in
postproduction. An understanding of graphic design basic editing
and production experience is also advantageous.
