An Auckland man accused of sedition has admitted seeking out Black Power contacts to help his campaign against the controversial Foreshore and Seabed legislation.
Tim Selwyn denies two rare charges of sedition, but has already admitted to playing a role in an axe attack on the Prime Minister's Auckland electorate office in 2004.
The attack was in response to the debate over the Foreshore and Seabed and Selwyn published two pamphlets calling on like-minded New Zealanders to take similar action.
The jury at the Auckland District Court has heard Selwyn tried to contact Black Power gang members for support and assistance with his campaign.
Opening the case on Tuesday the Crown told the court that Selwyn left pamphlets at the scene of the attack and in Ponsonby calling on others to react with similar civil disobedience.
Selwyn denies publishing the pamphlets.
