Canterbury Utd will face Auckland in the NZFC grand final after defeating Team Wellington 2-1 in the elimination final in Christchurch.

Andy Barron put the home side in front after just three minutes thanks to a fine Jeremy Brockie cross.

They doubled their advantage nine minutes later when Andy Pitman delievered a pinpoint cross to Stuart Kelly and he fired home almost unchallenged.

But the home side had a nervous last 20 minutes after Dean Tallentire was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Six minutes from time Dan Keat pulled one back for Wellington but it was too little, too late as Canterbury progressed to the final.
