There is new finger-pointing over the leaking of a politician's confidential military file.
An inquiry is under way into claims New Zealand's army boss accessed the file of New Zealand First MP Ron Mark.
And while Mark recovers from a heart scare, new questions are being asked about who else has seen the file.
Mark's past is now public record, after his military file was leaked.
He blames Major General Maurice Dodson, who requested Mark's file but denies any wrongdoing.
And as Mark recuperates, the opposition is demanding to know if Dodson or his staff passed on his file to any current or former staff member of the public relations company Communications Trumps.
The company is headed by former Labour Party researcher Norrey Simmons who does extensive work for the army.
The company has distanced itself from the row, telling senior MPs that: "An ex-staff member was in possession of a page, which is now presumed to have come from a file relating to Mr Mark."
The former staff member is Simmons' former business partner Allan Emerson who has written to the Defence Minister.
"Mr Emerson says that the page referred to does not come from Mr Mark's file. Mr Emerson says it comes from a profile written by him based on information he has gained going back some years," Mark Burton said.
Mark says he is keeping his options open while waiting for the inquiry.
A State Services report into the army was due this week, but with new complexities emerging almost every day the deadline has already been abandoned.
And the inquiry delay is also likely to delay the announcement of the new defence force chief.
Major General Dodson has been shortlisted for the position.
