New Zealander Bruce Robinson has been taken into custody in Poland in connection with a building collapse that killed 65 people last month.
The metal roof of a football pitch sized hall in the city of Katowice collapsed without warning on January 28 during an international racing pigeon show.
Robinson is the Managing Director of Expomedia Group Poland which ran the centre.
Prosecutors have been investigating if human error or neglect led to the collapse, which authorities blame on the weight of snow piled on the rooftop and possibly other factors.
Robinson and two other men may be charged with unintentionally causing the disaster and if convicted could face eight years in jail.
Polish authorities say he will appear in court on Thursday evening New Zealand time to determine if he should face charges.
The New Zealand embassy's First Secretary Consul, Mike Grace says Robinson is in contact with his lawyer and the embassy in Warsaw is working to ensure his rights are respected.
The Minsitry of Foreign Affairs and Trade says Robinson is being
well treated and has not asked for any help.
