The union that represents fast food workers in Auckland will continue negotiations with McDonald's this week for an increase in the minimum wage.
Unite, which represents about 3,000 fast food workers, wants to see an increase to $12 an hour.
The union staged a stopwork meeting on Sunday which attracted more than 600 workers and supporters.
Unite national secretary Matt McCarten says fast food workers are worse off now than they were 20 years ago when workers were paid the equivalent of almost double the going rate today.
He says he is supportive of a Private Members Bill sponsored by the Green Party which seeks the abolition of youth rates.
