Environmental group Greenpeace is to begin publicly campaigning in Australia against products marketed by the New Zealand fishing company Sealord.
Sealord's Japanese parent company is a major shareholder in Kyodo Senpaku which owns and operates the Japanese whaling fleet and sells whale meat across Japan.
On Monday Greenpeace members will protest outside Australian supermarkets asking consumers to contact Sealord with their concerns about whaling - although the executive director of Greenpeace Australia Steve Shallhorn says it is not calling for a boycott on Sealord products.
However, Sealord says Greenpeace Australia is wrong to target it in the anti-whaling campaign.
The company's chief executive Doug McKay says Sealord has never been involved in whaling and has already appealed to its parent company to stop its involvement in whaling.
He says Greenpeace is targeting the wrong people and the issue should be dealt with at Government level.
Greenpeace says its anti-whaling activities in the Southern ocean have finished for the season and protests are now in the next phase of the group's campaign.
