After 17 years in Nelson the World of Wearable Arts (WOW) has arrived in its new home - Wellington.
On Friday the wearable creations from New Zealand's most famous fashion show were again wowing the crowds as designers took their wares to the streets in a parade to get the capital in the mood for the big show.
In its new home the show will have extra performances, a bigger venue in the The Queens Wharf Events Centre, and possibly even more beautiful and bizarre creations.
Since it humble beginnings 18 years ago in Nelson, WOW has blossomed into a show demanding international recognition.
It was announced last June that the WOW awards was moving to ensure its long-term sustainability and to grow and develop the show creatively.
At the time WOW Chief Executive Gabrielle Hervey said the move would take WOW on its next step towards a long-term vision of making it an international event on the world stage.
Nine year Wearable Arts show veteran Simon Hames is showing again this year. He is a former supreme Wearable Arts winner and he backs the move.
"Nelson nurtured it, gave birth to it and encouraged it... and Wellington is going to sell it to the world."
