Winston Peters is defending his party's stance on immigration telling a Greypower meeting in Whangarei that New Zealand First is not anti-Muslim or anti-Asian.

Peters says the party is frustrated that some New Zealanders take umbrage at their strong stance - something he blames on the media's handling of the issue.

He says the party's claims about Muslim extremism in New Zealand have been backed up by the Police Commissioner.

But he says New Zealand First will never be silenced into not asking tough questions over immigration and security.
